Pencils of Nature, 2019, is a unique collection of 107 individual sculptures made from Victorian Cabinet Cards. In a conceptual riff on Fox Talbot’s ‘The Pencil of Nature,’ 1833, where Talbot asserted that photography would replace the pencil, I have transformed Victorian cabinet card photographs into prototypes: pencils, styluses and hand-tools, for purposes unknown.
